The DVtake of Austrian dance is a comprehensive documentation centre in progress and a centrepiece of the CPA 09. With wide-ranging invitations, a video library of about 200 DVDs has been put together that will be available throughout the platform: for researching, watching, comparing, ordering but also for copying and taking away items of interest on location. Hence the name - DVtake.
The DVtake does not preselect and is open for all artistic output of this genre. The result is a unique archive offering an insight into the relevance of the Austrian dance and performance scene and the opportunity to take a closer look at the work of artists invited and not invited to take part in the CPA 09.
In order to make sure that everyone finds what he is looking for in this wealth of information, the DVtake is supported by expert advisers who can provide background details on many artists and groups and give specific tips. In addition, there will be a "Meet the Artist" programme featuring video screenings and discussions with various choreographers taking part in the platform.
After the CPA 09, the DVtake will remain in place in two forms: in Graz at the Tanzebene currently in planning and also at Tanzquartier Wien: as an archive and research facility for anyone interested but also as a basis for updated instalments of the next platforms.
